“Our special education funding gap exceeds our budgeted deficit. In 2024, our district costs far exceed state funding in special education by $42 million,” Nancy Humphrey, Plano ISD board of trustees president said.

This gap could be narrowed if House Bill 2, filed this session, is passed. The bill would increase special education allotments, including providing $1,000 to school districts for each initial evaluation.
