Natalia Gómez Ramback is the youngest of 10, raised by her grandparents in Papalote, Texas, a small community about 40 minutes north of Corpus Christi.
From the time Natalia was four or five, she remembers going out to the firehouse on election day. She remembers the excitement and the crowds. Most of all, she remembers how proud her grandparents were to cast a vote and help others do the same. Years later, she realized the significance of what they modeled. Ramback sees her grandparents as the American dream in action and her generation as the culmination of their hard work and commitment to public service.
Following 18 years as a public school educator, Natalia recently began a new chapter as the Regional Advocacy Director for Central Houston for Raise Your Hand Texas. This team builds coalitions around public education issues, amplifies educator voices, and holds town halls and candidate forums.
This spring, you have an opportunity to connect with your local Regional Advocacy Director and join us for our upcoming For the Future candidate forum series. These education–focused conversations with Texas legislative candidates kicked off January 26th and lead up to the March 1, 2022 primary election.
Living into her grandparents’ legacy, Natalia models for all of us the importance and responsibility of being an engaged citizen and community builder.
