- Nearly 243,000 children attend pre-K in Texas public schools, more than any other state in the U.S.
- Texas has over 900,000 rural students in K-12 education, representing about 37% of the state’s student population. This is more than any other state in the country.
- At the same time, Texas has 17 school districts that educate more than 50,000 people. This is 1,414,000, or 25.62%, of the student population.
- Texas is home to 43 of the nation’s 200 largest school districts–dramatically more than any other state.
- The nation’s future workforce is here – 10% of all public school students attend public school here in Texas.
