Raise Your Hand Texas Foundation Names Dr. Tim Miller Superintendent in Residence

AUSTIN, TX (June 11, 2018) – The Raise Your Hand Texas Foundation today announced that Tim Miller, Ed.D., former director of educator preparation and program accountability at the Texas Education Agency, will serve as superintendent in residence at Raise Your Hand.In his new role, Dr. Miller will support Raise Your Hand’s programming, research, and advocacy efforts with a concerted focus on Raising Texas Teachers, a $50 million program initiative that includes a scholarship program and partnerships with Texas Universities to improve teacher preparation across the state. Prior to his joining the Texas Education Agency, Miller served as the Superintendent of the Cleburne Independent School District, located south of Fort Worth and campus and district administrator in North East ISD. He started his career as a special education teacher in San Antonio ISD.

“Dr. Miller brings an important perspective on programmatic and policy levers to advance academic achievement in districts across the state,” said Shari Albright, President of the Raise Your Hand Texas Foundation. “His more than 20 years of experience as a former teacher, superintendent, and TEA director give him a unique insight into the opportunities and impacts of proposals for school districts.”
Miller holds a Bachelor’s degree and two Master’s degrees from Trinity University and a doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin. He has taught graduate and undergraduate classes for Concordia University and the University of the Incarnate Word.

Raise Your Hand also announced the promotion of Jennifer Jendrzey from associate director for research and blended learning, to director of strategic learning and evaluation, and Briana Mascitelli from operations manager to programs coordinator.

Jendrzey, who has been with Raise Your Hand for three years, will manage strategy for continuous improvement and data-driven decisions to maintain alignment and progress across departments in pursuit of organizational goals. She will continue leading the Raising Blended Learners initiative, now in its third year of implementation, which employs a combination of classroom instruction and technology to improve student achievement across diverse student demographics and geographic regions in Texas.

Mascitelli, who has been with Raise Your Hand for four years, will support and coordinate efforts related to the Foundation’s programmatic initiatives, including Raising Blended Learners, Raising School Leaders, Raising Family Partnerships, and Raising Texas Teachers, as well as the organization’s annual leadership symposium.
