In Belton ISD, the deficit for the 2024-25 school year was projected at $8.2 million, and in Leander ISD the Central Texas fast-growing district faces a $34.4 million deficit. Today is National Kindergarten Day and the birthday of Friedrich Fröbel, who founded the first kindergarten in 1837. He believed children learn best through play, creativity, and following their curiosity.

At Raise Your Hand Texas, we believe every child deserves a strong start. High-quality kindergarten lays the foundation for a lifetime of learning, and all Texas children deserve access to it.
